On August 26, 2025, international weather reports indicated that Abadan recorded a temperature of 48.5°C, making it the hottest city globally. Ahvaz followed closely with 48.3°C, while Omidieh reached 47.4°C, ranking third. Dezful and Masjed Soleyman also made it into the top ten. This heatwave highlights the southern and southwestern regions of Iran as major heat centers, raising concerns about public health, energy consumption, and living conditions.
