Akram Banayi, a prominent and veteran singer of pre-revolution Iran, passed away at the age of 81. She held a PhD in Music from the University of California and had lived in Los Angeles for many years. Reports state that her death was due to old age. Banayi was renowned for her warm voice and performances of local songs, including "Rashid Khan" and "Gol Pamchal," securing her a special place in traditional and folk music in Iran.

Her sister, Pouri Banayi, a film and theater actress, announced her passing on social media, expressing her sorrow with the words: "After you, even laughter carries the scent of sorrow."

Morteza, a singer based in America, also shared condolences, stating, "Sadly, Akram Banayi has left us... This train moves swiftly along a ruthless path." He praised her unique style and distinctive voice, which quickly earned her a respected place among singers and popularity among the people. He extended his condolences to the Banayi family and the artistic community of Iran.
