The U.S. State Department welcomed Australia’s decision to list the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a "state sponsor of terrorism." In a statement shared on their Persian social media account, the U.S. emphasized that the Iranian regime, through the IRGC's Quds Force and its proxies like Hezbollah and Hamas, has financed and orchestrated various terrorist activities globally.

According to the State Department, Australia's designation of the IRGC as a terrorist group could significantly weaken the capabilities of the Iranian regime and its affiliates in planning terrorist attacks and securing financial resources for destructive activities, including assaults against Jewish communities worldwide.

The statement also highlighted President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign against the Iranian regime, emphasizing cooperation with allies like Australia. The U.S. urged all countries to hold the Iranian regime accountable and to prevent the activities of its operatives, recruiters, financiers, and proxies within their territories.
