Mahmoud Beheshti Returned to Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Mahmoud Beheshti Langroodi, teacher and trade unionist returned to Evin Prison after a 5-day Nowruz furlough.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Mahmoud Beheshti Langroodi who was released from Evin prison for the Nowruz furlough with a number of other political prisoners on March 19, 2016, introduced himself to Evin prison by the end of the furlough on March 25, 2016.

Mahmood Beheshti Langeroodi, former spokesman of the Teachers Union had been sent to a furlough after a 21-day hunger strike in protest against his sentence of nine years in prison in a closed trial without jury, on Thursday, January 14, 2016 but his request for an extension of the leave was denied by the authorities and then he returned to Evin prison.

He was tried more than two years ago by branch number 15 of the revolutionary court presided by Judge Salvati.

Mr. Beheshti’s verdict was announced in 2013 and at the same time he posted on his Facebook profile: “Mr. Salvati issued my verdict. Four years in prison on charges of gathering and colluding against the national security, one year in prison on charge of propaganda against the regime.”

He added: “by counting four years of suspended sentence, it is 9 years in prison, so easily.”
