HRANA News Agency – Atena Daemi, imprisoned civil rights activist, was released on the bail from Evin prison after sixteen months of detention.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Atena Daemi, 27, was arrested on 21st October 2014 and was held in solitary confinement in Ward 2-A for 86 days.
Ms. Daemi was transferred to women’s ward in Evin prison, after her interrogations, on 18th January 2015.
After several postponement of the court hearing, eventually in a court, presided by judge Moghiseh, judge of the Revolutionary Court, Branch 28th in Tehran and in the presence of her solicitor and the other defenders of this case, (Omid Alishenas, Asuo Rostami, and Ali Nouri), she was charged with propaganda against the regime, gathering and collusion against the national security, insulting the Supreme Leader, insulting the Islamic Republic’s founder and concealing evidence of the crime because of her peaceful civil activities, and was sentenced to 14 years in prison on 14th March 2015.
This verdict was sent to the Appeals Court, Branch 36. The Appeals Court’s sentence has not been announced yet, but the judge finally agreed to release her on the bail.
