Tuesday 02 February 2016Prisoners Of Urumieh Prison Returned From Solitary Confinement
HRANA News Agency – Mostafa Sabzi and Rahman Rashidzade, two political prisoners of Urumieh Prison who after announcing hunger strike had been transferred to solitary confinement, were returned to the ward by ending their hunger strike and the promise of prison authorities to address their demands. According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the two mentioned political prisoners were asking the prison authorities to transfer them to the political prisoner’s ward, and were protesting the failure to implement the law that requires the prison authorities to classify and separate prisoners based on the crimes they have committed. Mostafa Sabzi on 13th January and Rahman Rashidzade on 14th January after announcing hunger strike, were transferred to solitary confinement. In June 2014, Mostafa Sabzi was arrested and charged with “connection and collaboration with PJAK” and received a 15 year custodial sentence. He is currently being held in ward 13 of Urumieh Prison. In late august 2015, Rahman Rashidzade, Kurdish citizen of Urumieh, was arrested and charged with “gathering and colluding against national security” and received a 3 year custodial sentence. In December 2015, Mr. Rashidzade was injured by felony offenders of the ward, and after complaining he was transferred to solitary confinement. According to the report of HRANA- currently there are 27 political prisoners in Urumieh Prison who are being kept out of political prisoners’ ward against. |
