“When you say a man has killed reporters, I’d like you to prove it,” Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “I’m saying it would be a terrible thing if it were true.”
The Russian president recently called Trump ‘‘a very colorful character and talented,’’ and Trump responded by calling Putin “a powerful leader” and blaming poor U.S.- Russian relations on President Obama.
Exchange prompted criticism of Trump for receiving compliments from Putin, due to Putin’s record.
Trump also said U.S. leaders “are the ones who have really empowered Iran, not Russia” with recent U.S.-Iran nuclear deal, which Trump opposes.
Russia a party to Iran deal as well.
