3 Activists Sentenced To Imprisonment In Tabriz

HRANA News Agency – Branch number 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Tabriz issued a verdict in the case of three civil activists named Rasul Razavi, Hossein Rakhshanikia and Sevindik Lotfi, on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran” and “disturbing public opinion” and sentenced each of them to one year imprisonment.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Imani, chairman of the second branch of the Revolutionary Court in Tabriz, issued a verdict on 21 September and on the charge of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran” suspended six months of their imprisonment for two years, and on the charge of “disturbing public opinion” on the basis of Article 301 of the Code of Criminal Procedure on the lack of jurisdiction, postponed the trial.

Tabrizi civil activists showed their support to China’s Muslim Uighur Turks by holding placards and banners during the “Ghods Day rally”, on Friday, 10th July.

The intervention of the Ashura Army, Revolutionary Guards in Tabriz, in the protest led to the arrest of a number of citizens who were protesting.

Also in a similar protest in the city of Ahar Ebrahim Noori and Milad Azimi, two other activists, were arrested and interrogated for hours.

These activists had been temporarily been released on the bail of 50 million Tomans after few days of detention and interrogation.

Rasoul Razavi, one of the detainees, previously had been arrested following his activities and was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment on charge of propaganda against the regime, in 2013.
