Monday 12 October 2015Six Wounded in Three Jerusalem Stabbing Attacks
Read the latest analyses and opinions on the escalating violence throughout Israel and the West Bank: Israel must do what it can to prevent a new Gaza war (Haaretz Editorial); In Israel, no end to violence in sight (Amos Harel); In search of an Israeli weakling to blame for recent violence (Raviv Drucker). Tensions between Israel and the Palestinians continued to simmer on Monday. Six people were wounded in three stabbing attacks in Jerusalem, two of them seriously. In another similar attack, a border policemen was tageted but escaped unscathed. On Sunday evening, four Israelis were stabbed by an Israeli Arab assailant in northern Israel, hours after a police officer was wounded when a Palestinian driver detonated a bomb at a checkpoint on the route from Jerusalem to the West Bank settlement of Ma'ale Adumim. A Palestinian boy was killed near Ramallah on Sunday, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent, and hundreds more were hurt in clashes with Israeli security forces in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and on the Gaza border. A 30-year-old pregnant woman and her daughter were killed when the Israel Air Force struck what it said was a Hamas arms-production site in the northern Gaza Strip in response to rocket fire. |
