Iran Human Rights, July 31 2015: According to various reports, Iranian officials hanged six prisoners to death on Thursday.
The Public Affairs Department of Ardebil's Office of the Attorney General reported on the execution of one of the prisoners, stating that Branch 1 of Urmia's Revolutionary Court had charged him with possessing 849 grams of heroin and sentenced him to death. The hanging reportedly occurred in Ardebil Central Prison.
Iranian human rights group, HRANA, reported on the execution of five of the prisoners; one of the prisoners was reportedly a woman. The names of three of the men are known: Ezzat Sabeki, Meysam Shahraki and Ali Zehi. All five prisoners, who were reportedly hanged to death at Shahab Prison in Kerman, were accused of drug related offenses.
HRANA has also reported on the transfer of three death row prisoners on Thursday from their ward in Bandar Abbas Central Prison to solitary confinement. The prisoners are reportedly sentenced to death for alleged drug related offenses.
