Thursday 23 July 2015No Information about Nahid Gorji’s Status after 9 Months of Detention
HRANA News Agency – After 9 months of Nahid Gorgi’s detention in Mashhad, there is no information about her charges, her case condition and her whereabouts. According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), after the news, regarding Nahid Gorgi’s deprivation from having visitors and phone calls was released in December last year, no new information has been achieved about her. HRANA’s reporters’ attempts to contact Nahid Gorgi’s family members were inconclusive but one of her friends told HRANA: “The last news that we had was about her bad mental condition. Her daughter has changed her phone number and closed her Facebook account, and in a contact that I had with another member of her family, they said that releasing news about her, will make the condition worse, and the family are pursuing the issue.” Nahid Gorgi was arrested on 11th October last year by the security forces in Mashhad at her home and after inspecting her home, she was transferred to the Revolutionary Court in Kooh Sangi in Mashhad and then was transferred to an unknown location. After two weeks, a bail of 400 million Tomans was issued for her, the bail that her family could not afford. On 8th December last year, eight members of the European Parliament, sent a joint letter to the High Representative of the European Union in Foreign Policy and Security Affairs, Federica Mogherini, expressing their concern about the detention of Nahid Gorgi and urged her to inform Iran government of their concerns about this civil activist and demand Ms. Gorgi’s freedom. In January last year, Nahid Gorgi’s family said that since early January, she had no contact with her family and this was the last news about the detention of this social network activist. It is to say that, Ms. Nahid Gorgi’s relatives believe that she had only activity in social networks such as Facebook, Viber and WhatsApp, and that is the cause of her arrest. |
