Wednesday 03 June 2015From Torture During Arrest to Heart Disease in the 4th year of Imprisonment
Majzooban.org - The following text has been written under the pretext of deprivation of transfer of the jailed rights activist of Gonabadi Dervishes, Reza Entesari to hospital for examination and treatment of his severe heart disease, by Prison officials. Evin prison authorities by misusing of his resistance to wear prison uniform outside the jail which is actually illegal for prisoners of conscience, want to pretend falsely that the mentioned Dervish refuses to go to hospital on his will. This passage tries to show how the unlawful behavior and pressures on him by prison officials could lead to heart disease for him. Majzooban Noor, Report group : It has been nearly 4 years since Reza has been jailed in different parts of Evin and Rajaeei Shahr prisons, and the result of this unseasonable act is that, this fired journalist of broadcasting is now physically ill , who has just defended the rights of Gonabadi Dervishes. In Shahrivar,13, 1390 ( Sept 04 , 2011 ) some security forces entered Majzooban Noor office and arrested him along with eight Gonabadi Dervishes. Due to the influx of officers during the arrest, his hand was seriously injured and had broken ribs too. For consecutive days, he was interrogated from his behind with painful broken finger and ribs and blindfolded in small, dark and narrow cell of ward 204 of Evin prison. After a while, because the injury was so severe prison officials were forced to send him to the Ghamar Banihashem hospital where surgery was done while he was still detained and interrogated in security section 209 for 60 days. Although doctor ordered physiotherapy treatment but he did not receive any treatment then, and after surgery, he quickly returned to continue the interrogation in section 209 of Evin prison and this caused a problem which his finger was welded crooked and he is not now able to bend his finger from the joint area. Reza Entesari after 60 days of being in solitary confinement, in protest against his illegal detention refused to post bail of 100 million for his temporary release and was taken to Section 350 of Evin prison. After 1 year, due to his problems he was transferred to Milad hospital for follow-up treatment but due to unlawful interference of security forces, suddenly discharged from the hospital and in the middle of his medical treatment returned to Evin prison. The mentioned photo journalist who was physically mutilated by the intelligence agents at the time of his arrest and his finger was broken and was left untreated for a year, was prevented from Physiotherapy that was led to finger pain and loss of finger joints and now its movement is possible only by artificial joints. It should be noted that security and intelligence agents will be the main responsible for this maiming, because the pointing finger for him as a photo journalist is a vital organ. His 4 years in prison just like the imprisonment of other jail Gonabadi Dervishes has been associated with pressure and high stress. -90 days in Solitary confinement for the second time. -The sudden transfer to Rajai Shahr prison in Day 1391 ( 2012) without any legal warrant. -Starting a hunger strike in jail for 18 days to protest the authorities' refusal to address the demands of jailed Dervishes and also to protest the continued neglect of their medical needs. -On March 8 , 2,000 dervishes were going on hunger strike to defend the rights of their suffering brethren in prison. The gathering of relatives of imprisoned dervishes in front of the Judiciary in Tehran on March 8 and 9 swelled with the participation of relatives of political prisoners and ordinary people. Police forces and plainclothes agents assaulted and hurled abuse at hundreds of dervishes and the relatives of political prisoners. But after that,Gonabadi dervish Reza Entesari was transferred to the ward 8 which is for ordinary sentenced prisoners in Evin. This sudden action was done, while, according to Iranian prison regulations, inmates must be separated by their crimes and political prisoners and prisoners of conscience including jailed Dervishes, should not be mixed with ordinary inmates. -Protest denial of family visits due to being forced to wear prison uniform for 4 months. During the same period in which the early warning signs of heart problems and high blood pressure in this 40-year-old prisoner appeared, he was deprived to hospital for 4 time on the pretext of not using prison clothes. Despite the opinion of the head of infirmary of the ward 8 of Evin prison for the need to emergency dispatch of the jailed Gonabadi dervish, Reza Entesari to hospital, prison authorities refused his transfer. the chief of the infirmary announced that his hypertension and drug-resistance is on the rise, and described as a hazardous condition for this patient, subsequently, called for the emergency dispatch to the hospital, but after coordination with the prison authorities this rights activist was returned to the jail again. This unlawful treatment has been done 4 times in the last month. Not long ago, his physician in a letter to the prosecutor warned about the severe consequences concerning the high blood pressure of the mentioned patient according to the record and history of his heart attack and Mr. Entesari concerning his heart should be followed in equipped medical centers, outside the prison. The question is who is accountable for these such illegal and inhuman acts which cause irreparable damage to prisoners. If we suppose the ruling has been a fair punishment although is actually unfair, While no organization protects the rights of prisoners of conscience and political prisoners, no authority without judicial permission could visit state prisons to inspect the conditions of their confinement, this such inhumane treatment, imposes additional penalties for them too. So, it is obvious that the lives and health of prisoners is seriously at risk. |
