Sunday 26 October 2014Woman found semi-conscious in park, Iranian student heldTNN PUNE: A 27-year-old Iranian student was arrested on Saturday following a complaint by a 30-year-old woman engineer working with a software company that she fell unconscious after eating a bakery product offered by him in Anand Park at Pimple Gurav on Thursday night. The woman was found in a semi-conscious condition and disheveled clothes by local residents in the park on Friday morning, senior inspector Saifan Mujawar of the Sangvi police station told TOI. "The locals immediately took her to a hospital, which alerted the police." The suspect, Arsh Mohamoud Karim Tourghanaadi (27), a college student, has been charged with sections 363 (kidnapping) and 328 (causing hurt by means of poison etc with intent to commit an offence) of IPC. The woman has, however, not made allegations of rape or molestation against Arsh, said Mujawar. The woman was subjected to medical examination at a government hospital. "The doctors have issued a certificate stating that there were no injuries on her person," Mujawar said. Mujawar said the woman has given a statement to the police stating that she met Arsh at a coffee shop in Aundh around 6 pm on Thursday as he had picked up a conversation with her while she was having coffee. According to her complaint, she and Arsh walked out of the cafe around 8 pm and visited the garden in the area. The woman told the police that Arsh offered her a bakery product and that she does not remember what happened to her after eating that or how she was found in a semi-conscious condition the next day. The woman's blood and urine samples have been collected to ascertain what she had consumed on the day of the incident. Medical reports of the tests are awaited. "We are visiting the places mentioned by the woman in her complaint and are in the process of collecting data," Mujawar said. |
