HRANA News Agency – Dr. Ali Rashidi, the well-known economist and nationalist activist who was sentenced to two years in prison, went back to jail since his furlough was not extend.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Dr. Ali Rashidi, university professor and founder of Iran’s Economists Society and board member of Iran National party, went back to Evin Prison on August 11.
Branch number 15 of revolutionary court of Tehran with chief judge Salavati, sentenced Ali Rashidi, 77, to two years in prison and being deprived of all social right (political, scientific, journalism) on June 9 , 2012. This sentence was confirmed by court of appeal.
This sentence was because of publicizing the announcement of Iran National party, in protest at economic conditions in Iran, in November 2011. Intelligence forces claimed that article was written by Ali Rashidi and charged him with propaganda against the government and insulting supreme leader.
He had left Evin Prison for medical treatment.
