Seven prisoners were hanged in the prisons of Kerman (southeastern Iran) and Qazvin (west of Tehran) early this morning. Based on the reports by the official Iranian sources at least 15 people have been executed in the last six days.
Iran Human Rights, February 18, 2014: Four prisoners were hanged in the prison of Kerman, and three were hanged in the prison of Qazvin early this morning, Tuesday 18. February, reported the Iranian state media.
According to the state run Iranian news agency Fars, participation in trafficking of 703 kilograms and 250 grams of opium was the charge of two of the prisoners who were executed today. The third and fourth prisoners were charges with possession and trafficking of 22 kilograms and 300 grams of heroin, and possession and trafficking of 1300 grams of heroin respectively. All the four had been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Kerman.
Fars news agency also reported about the execution of three prisoners in the prison of Qazvin early this morning. Also these prisoners were sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court convicted of drug trafficking. No further details about these prisoners were revealed in the report.
