A former commander of the elite Delta Force military unit will discuss his view of the country’s direction in a free program next week in Sioux Falls.
Retired Lt. Gen. William Boykin will discuss, “Where is America going? Faith, culture and the public square” at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Elmen Center at 33rd Street and Grange Avenue on the Augustana College campus.
Boykin spent 36 years in the military, including 13 years in Delta Force and two as its commander. He was part of the Iran hostage rescue attempt of April 1980, the arrest of Manuel Noriega in Panama in 1989 and the Black Hawk Down incident in Somalia in 1993. He was under secretary of defense for intelligence for President Bush from 2002 to 2007. He now is executive vice president with the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C.
