RFE/RL - Three Azerbaijani citizens have been arrested in connection with a plot to kill Israeli Ambassador Michael Lotem and a teacher and a rabbi at the Chabad Jewish school in Baku.
According to Israeli media, Azerbaijan's Security Ministry said Balagardash Dadashov, an Azerbaijani citizen living in the Iranian city of Ardabil, was detained along with Rasim Farail Aliyev and Ali Alihamza Huseynov last week.
All three were charged with smuggling weapons and explosives into Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan's Security Ministry said Dadashov has connections to Iranian intelligence agencies that promised to pay the three Azerbaijanis $150,000 to kill the ambassador and the other two Jews.
