Boots-and--jeans1Shahrzadnews:Now that the first snows of winter have fallen in many parts of Iran, the police have once again warned that women wearing winter boots, tight jeans and lightweight scarves would be treated as law-breakers.

National vice-squad commander Ahmad Roozbehani announced: “Women are not banned from wearing boots, but combining them with inappropriate clothes such as tight jeans and long patterned coats or matching lightweight scarves is forbidden. Offenders risk arrest.”

Roozbehani also warned the owners of clothes shops and boutiques that those who displayed mannequins in their windows would be dealt with by his officers.

“One of the duties of the police force is to ensure that our national Islamic culture of modesty is promoted, and to resist antisocial Western culture which seeks to dishonour our young people.”
