Haaretz Service -- Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi tells Fars news agency 'we are powerful in the sky'; dismisses outside threats because 'enemies do not dare threaten Iran.'
Iran's defense minister warned on Saturday that in the event of aggression from any outside forces, the Iranian response "will be strong and decisive."
Speaking to Iran's semiofficial Fars news agency, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said that Iran is "powerful in the sky."
"The Iranian Armed Forces' air defense capabilities are enough to defend the country," he said.
Vahidi went on to dismiss the military threat posed by other countries. "Enemies do not dare to threaten Iran, as they have claimed to attack Iran on several occasions, but they themselves realized that their threats are far from practical realities," he said.
Earlier this month, a spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry, Ramin Mehmanparast, accused the U.S. and Israel of conspiring against Iran and trying to provoke a regional war.
International sanctions have been imposed on Iran over its controversial nuclear program. Iran claims that its nuclear program has peaceful purposes while Western nations are concerened that the program is intended to develop nuclear weapons.
