Monday 21 March 2011Don’t leave the prisoners alone during the New Year
A Norouz Message from the Green Visit Campaign (Didar Sabz): The Persian calendar year 1389 is coming to an end and still many Iranians are imprisoned and many families are mourning the death of their loved ones. The Persian New Year, [which starts at 2:50 am Tehran time on March 21st and lasts for 13 days], is one of the saddest and most difficult moments for any political prisoner. All their piled up grief during the past year turns into tears and always someone begins to sing the traditional Persian song, The Morning Bird. We must not allow the families of political prisoners be alone. We must not let them bend under the hardships and injustices. It is up to us to turn the culture of routinely visiting the families of political prisoners and the martyrs into the fabric of our moral values. [Then,] may we be able to appreciate the sacrifices that have been made. During the New Year celebrations, with the hopes of a Green season of freedom, we will stay alongside the families of our political prisoners and martyrs. Our compatriots outside the country can also make a simple phone call and express their solidarity with these dear people. Please help us with this effort. The Campaign for the Green Visit is also accepting your artwork, like video clips, images and post cards to be sent to political prisoners. With the hopes of celebrating the year of freedom as the year of patience and perseverance comes to an end. Persian2English |
