Farah Vazehan Sentenced to 17 Years in Prison

RAHANA, Farah Vazehan who had returned to Iran in order to visit her child, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison and exile to the Rajaei Shahr Prison.

Vazehan was arrested after the Ashura events of last year and transferred to Ward 209 and the solitary confinement units of Evin prison.

According to the Human Rights House of Iran, after her execution sentence was overruled, she was sentenced to 17 years in prison and exile to the Rajaei Shahr Prison.

She is suffering from heart problems and is held in the Methadone Ward of Evin Prison along with Mahdieh Golrou and Bahareh Hedayat. This section which is normally used for dangerous criminals, including drug addicts is a closed hall no larger 30 to 35 meters and its prisoners are allowed outside to use fresh air less than one hour per day. They are also excluded from other facilities such as the library and are not given the right to use the phone like other prisoners. They are only allowed cabin visits and are prohibited from face-to-face meetings.
