TEHRAN Jan 8 (Reuters) - Two earthquakes damaged buildings and injured several people in southern Iran early on Saturday, state broadcaster IRIB reported.
The quakes, measuring 5.0 and 5.1 on the Richter scale, hit the small town of Nurabad in Fars province, the same region where a 5.3 quake damaged villages and injured 16 people on Wednesday.
Earthquakes are common in Iran. In 2003, about 30,000 people were killed in a quake that devastated the southeastern city of Bam.
Last month an earthquake in northeastern Iran killed at least seven people and injured hundreds.
