The appeals court sentenced Meghdad Asgharpour, an electrical engineering student at Semnan University who was in detention for 20 days, to 8 months of suspended imprisonment for insulting the sacred rules of the regime through email.
RAHANA: He appeared at the Evin Prison on December 27th to begin serving his sentence. He has been sentenced to 8 months of suspended imprisonment, 4 months in prison and 74 lashes.
His charges include acting against national security, conspiring against national security, blasphemy, and insulting the principles of the regime. He had received his bachelor degree from Oroumiyeh University and was an active member of the Muslim Student Association. He is currently pursuing his Masters at Semnan University.
