RAHANA: Mostafa(Mehdi) Kamrani who had gone to visit his brother in prison was arrested along with his father and sister after he wrote slogans on a wall in the visitor’s hall. His sister and father were released after a few hours and he was released on bail a few days later.
A few days ago, the court verdict was issued and he was sentenced to 3 years in prison for writing slogans. He had been charged with anti-regime propaganda and based on the Constitution, his prison sentence should not exceed one year. However, Judge Moghiseh sentenced him to 3 years in prison. Kiarash Kamrani is his brother who was detained during last year’s Ashura protests and was sentenced to 6 years in prison. He is held in Ward 350. The slogan which was written in green stated that “someday we will make this place a museum.” Kiarash’s family were beaten and arrested by the security forces for writing the slogan upon visiting him and leaving the prison.
The house of Kamrani family was searched and now their other son has also been sentenced to prison.
