Tavakoli and Hedayat Presented with New Charges

BanooyeSabz, Incarcerated student activists Majid Tavakoli and Bahareh Hedayat were transferred to Evin Court's branch number four and presented with new charges. According to the interrogator at Evin's court number four Tavakoli and Hedayat have been accused of the following new charges: "propaganda against the regime" and "acting against national security by conspiring against the regime". The interrogator stated that these two prisoners had acted together and cooperated with foreign media to conspire against the regime.

It has been reported that these new charges are attributed to to the letters written by these two student activists on the occasion of Student Day (16 Azar) published by the media and widely distributed by students both inside Iran and abroad.

The interrogator at Evin's Court number four has demanded that Tavakoli and Hedayat deny the fact that they wrote this letter in an televised interview. He also stated that refusing to do so will lead to a new case being opened against them in court.

Bahareh Hedayat and Majid Tavakoli have been incarcerated for the past year. Hedayat has been sentenced to 9 1/2 years and Tavakoli to 8 years in prison.
