According to RAHANA, 5 executions were due to drug trafficking which is one of the main grounds for execution in Iran. Shahla jahed was executed after 9 years. This sentence was carried out while her lawyers report there were still unclear areas in the case that needed investigation. Another female was also executed for murder in the city of Ghazvin. An individual was executed in Isfahan under charges of rape. Based on reports investigated by RAHANA, from the beginning of this year to the end of December 2010 at least 189 individuals were executed in Iran. That is while Iran is still considered one of the countries with the highest number of execution. In this regard during the recent months there has been reports of hidden executions at different prisons around the country especially Vakil-abad prison of Mashhad that officials and judiciary have not revealed.
