TABNAK -- Heart specialist, Dr. Gholamreza Sarabi, was shot in front of his office Wednesday night one day after another physician and university professor, Dr. Abdul-Reza Soudbakhsh was shot dead.
Dr. Sarabi was immediately transferred to Imam Hossein hospital and went under surgery. His overall health condition was announced satisfactory by the hospital authorities. He is currently under intensive care.
The bullet had hit the left side of his abdomen.
Dr. Sarabi who works in Khatamol-anbia hospital, has reportedly been threatened several times by a number of his patients, head of Iran’s Medical System Organization, Dr. Shahabeddin Sadr told Persian service of Mehrnews.
On possible link between Dr. Sarabi’s assassination attempt and Dr. Abudl-Reza Soudbakhsh’s case, who was killed Tuesday night by an unknown assailant, Dr. Sadr said the issue is seriously under investigation by Ministry of Intelligence, Law Enforcement Forces and Interior Ministry.
