In yet-to-be-aired TV interview, Iranian president accuses UN nuclear watchdog of flouting international law over barred inspectors.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday accused the UN nuclear watchdog of flouting international law, according to a PressTV report.
“If an [IAEA] inspector violates his duties, the agency's Articles of Association allow for the termination of his inspections,” PressTV quoted Ahmadinejad as saying, citing a yet-to-be-aired ABC News interview.
The comments were a reference to a recent disagreement over Iran's decision to bar two UN inspectors from its nuclear sites. An IAEA report some two weeks ago had stated that the agency's monitoring of Iran's nuclear activities is being hampered because of Teheran's objections.
Ahmadinejad went on to accuse the IAEA of resorting to "generalizations" and "undocumented" discussions.
When asked about the case of an Iranian woman found guilty of adultery, the Iranian president charged Western media with circulating false reports. He also denied reports that the woman had been sentenced to death by stoning.
