Badr al-Sadat Mofidi, the secretary of the Iranian Press Union, has been sentenced to six years prison and banned from journalistic activity for a further five years.
Shahrzad news:Badr al-Sadat Mofidi, the secretary of the Iranian Press Union, has been sentenced to six years prison and banned from journalistic activity for a further five years.
She was first arrested in 2009 and spent many months in gaol, charged with ‘endangering the national security’ of the country. Six months later she was given what the public prosecutor described as ‘temporary freedom, until her case is reviewed.’ She has now been found guilty of ‘waging a propaganda campaign against the system by giving interviews to foreign and hostile media organisations.’
