Tuesday 17 August 2010IRGC: U.S. troops must leave regionMehr News Agency TEHRAN, Aug. 14 (MNA) – U.S. troops must leave the region before it is too late, Brigadier General Saeed Masood Jazayeri said on Saturday. It is prudent for the U.S. to acquiesce to the demands of the regional nations and withdraw its troops from the region otherwise Washington will be coerced to do so, Jazayeri told IRNA news agency. He also said the U.S. and the Zionist regime are not able to control the developments in the region and that the “new Middle East” belongs to its real owners. “We are seeing that whenever they (the Americans) take one step forward …..they (will have to) take two steps backward,” he stated. Elsewhere in his remarks, he played down U.S. military threats against Iran, saying, “attacking Iran is an old and repetitive subject and no new incident takes place these days.” He said some media outlets highlight these threats in order to intensify psychological warfare against the country. Certain European countries and even some of Iran’s neighbors have tried to contribute to this propaganda campaign in order to serve their own interests, he added. He also advised Iranian officials not to be influenced by these media propaganda. Asked about sanctions imposed on Iran, he said the sanctions are a means of mounting pressure on Iran to make Tehran comply with the U.S. demands. Jazayeri noted those countries which voted for the sanctions furtively interact with the Islamic Republic. Maybe in the future Tehran will reveal the names of these countries which “are the United States’ “close allies”. |
