2007 Sunday 11 FebruaryTextile workers block roadThe regime-run news agency Fars reported: a large number of workers from the spinning, weaving, velvet and silk factories of the city of Kashan blocked one of the main roads as a protest against many months of non-payment of their wages. Approximately 500 workers blocked the road and traffic and said that the efforts of the Kashan city officials and the governor of the province of Esfahan has gleaned no results and that these protests will go on should the neglect of their work issues continue. One of the workers pointed out that the government has shown a total lack of competence in dealing with corrupt management, in resolving their problems and that 15 months of salaries for 3500 workers from these various textile factories have not been paid. |
