2007 Sunday 11 FebruaryThe law codifying apparel and dressThe regime-run news agency IRNA reported: Gholam-Ali Hadad-Adel the head of the Islamic consultative assembly, in an official letter to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced the new law codifying apparel and dress. Hadad-Adel in his letter to the president wrote: "The implementation of article 123 of the constitutional law that codifies apparel and dress, was presented as a blueprint to the Majles and approved in the public session of January 2nd; it was also submitted for the approval of the esteemed guardian council and it was confirmed." Based on this report, the president also communicated this law to the ministry of Islamic culture and guidance for implementation. Article1 is in order to preserve and strengthen Islamic culture and identity; to appreciate, display, maintain and promote national and local patterns as well as the management of the production market, supplying the clothing market and clothing patterns based on the promotion of domestic patterns. Also to dissuade the populace from the consumption of foreign patterns that are alien and repulsive to the Islamic culture and identity. The Ministry of Islamic culture and guidance has been contracted to create the foundation for the management of this blueprint into law with the supervision of a committee consisting of deputies and superintendents from each of the ministries, Islamic cultural and guidance institutions, educational, commercial, industries and mines, radio and television of the Islamic Republic and the management and planning of the country as well as 3 representatives of designers and producers and one representative from the cultural commission of the parliament will be chosen as observers. |
