2007 Wednesday 31 JanuaryWorkers close the gates of the “Iran Sadra” company in BoushehrThe workers representative said: “This strike will continue until there are results.” Following the dismissal of 38 workers from the "Iran Sadra" company in Boushehr, on Tuesday, January 30th, the entrance of the company was close by 150 of it’s workers. According to regime-run news agency ILNA, Ranjbaraian, the representative of the Iran Sadra company workers, in this regard said: “In a written agreement that had been accorded by the provincial governor that clearly stated that if the company, begins work again, it would bring its’ work force back and that they would sign contracts to resolve all the problems at hand; however not only were the problems not solved, but after one month, 38 of the workers were dismissed.” He described the workers’ strike as spontaneous and added: “A company that does not employ from the local work force and has no work for them at all, should be closed down. The problem must be fundamentally dealt with and one or two month contracts cannot resolve anything. The passage of time is detrimental to the workers. The government in an attempt to create job opportunities such as big projects of building ships and cargo-carrying barges has employed the Iran Sadra company and the president (Ahmadinejad) has signed contracts with countries such as Venezuela so that workers form the Iran Sadra company can return to work but today we are yet again witness to the dismissal of the company’s workers.” The Labor representative was asked if unemployment insurance helps young workers who have the high work potential. He clarified: “Unemployment insurance is for the end of the line.” He added: “The problem that these workers face today was created by the director of the company which has puzzled even all the provincial officials as well; it is a wonder why no legal action has been taken against him so far. We will continue our strike until we get the results we are hoping for.” |
