2006 Tuesday 26 DecemberKianoosh Sanjari in grave dangerIran Press News: According to reports after pressure from international human rights organizations, the Islamic regime transferred esteemed activist and blogger, Kianoosh Sanjari to the public section of the notorious ward 209 of Evin prison. Prior to transfer however, he spent 3 days in quarantine. The reason for this is unknown. After the 3 day period he was taken to the most dangerous section of this ward where serial killers, professional assassins, rapists and the most violent of criminals are detained. Then the 23-year-old Sanjari who had spent 79 days in solitary confinement and under torture, had his life threatened by these criminal elements. The abominable quality of the food in this ward has also caused Kianoosh to stop eating. The political prisoners whom the regime wishes to punish are always sent to criminal wards. There the regime’s own jailors allow for their dirty work to be performed by the criminal prisoners; due to the levels of education and social status as activists the murderers, rapists and other dangerous criminal prisoners harass the political prisoners. Also each time a political prisoner ”misbehaves” the warden penalizes the entire ward knowing that this will result in further animosity between the criminals who in turn blame the political prisoners for being forced to forfeit their amenities. Sanjari who was re-arrested on October 7th during the unrest around the house of Ayatollah Kazemeini-Boroujerdi and has spent the last 75 days in solitary confinement was finally transferred to the public section of the same ward, 209 of Evin prison. Prior to this occasion 23-year-old Sanjari who was first arrested at age 15, had been re-arrested many times for various illegal reasons and held for periods of time under severe torture. |
