2006 Friday 22 DecemberEsteemed activist & blogger, Kianoosh Sanjari finally transferred to public section of ward 209Iran Press News: Students’ committee of human rights reporters announced that esteemed activist and blogger, Kianoosh Sanjari who was re-arrested on October 7th during the unrest around the house of Ayatollah Kazemeini-Boroujerdi and has spent the last 75 days in solitary confinement was finally transferred to the public section of the same ward, 209 of Evin prison. Last week Sanjari was transferred from ward 209 to the Revolutionary Court in order for the judge to talk to Sanjari regarding his release; the condition however was that Sanjari agree and confess [to the bogus charges leveled against him] in accordance with the demands of the ministry of intelligence and security. According to the report, while objecting to the process of his hearing, Sanjari refused the conditions for his bail and release and was therefore returned once again to ward 209 and solitary confinement. Prior to this occasion 23-year-old Sanjari who was first arrested at age 15, had been re-arrested many times for various illegal reasons and held for periods of time under severe torture. |
