Iran activists: “Mr. Anan, stop ignoring Mullahs’ human rights violations”

Iran Press News: Iranian activists, member of the campaign for the freedom of Kianoosh Sanjari, in a letter to UN secretary-general remind Kofi Anan that defending human rights of citizens of member nations, is one of the most important of the United Nations statutes. Alarmingly, Tehran’s regime, despite membership in the United Nations, continues its horrifying human rights violations.

We, the students, political activists, thinkers, and human rights defenders in Iran protest this unremitting cruelty toward the innocents being held as political prisoners, especially those of the student movement who are being incarcerated; we call upon you to address this issue and assist in the freedom of the Iranian people from under the bloody boot of the Islamic regime’s authorities.

Twenty three year old Kianoosh Sanjari, who has been one of the most esteemed human rights and political activists as well as bloggers, was once again arrested by the inhumane revolutionary guards, in Tehran on October 7th. Sanjari who has been held in the infamous ward 209 of Evin prison has been under constant interrogation, mental and physical torture. We the supporters of Sanjari’s freedom ask that you join us in condemning such exploits at the hands of the Islamic regime.

Mr. Annan your willful oversight of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s treatment of political prisoners has spurred the Islamic Republic to continue this unacceptable behavior of depriving our innocent political prisoners as well as all Iranians of their basic rights.

Once again we should like to stress that if there is no action taken regarding the freedom of political prisoners and human rights laws in Iran there will be worrisome repercussions, and certainly the United Nations being the highest authority for the protection of human rights will be held responsible for it.
