Member of Islamic parliament calls for oppression of Bahá'ís

Iran Press News: Shahrzad news reports: Bahá'is are among the unofficial religious minorities that have been persecuted and oppressed since the very beginning of the Islamic revolution. Many of them were arrested and imprisoned and were forced to convert to Islam or die. In addition, a vast number of Bahá'ís are deprived of the most basic rights such as education and employment positions.

Recently the Islamic parliament (Majles), openly intensified the pressure and oppression of Bahá'ís and called for combating the Bahá'í faith across Iran. Sattar Hedawyat-khah, a member of the cultural commission of the Majles asked for "serious encounter with Bahá'ís". He asked officials of the Judiciary to deal with Bahá'is by any means necessary and prevent their presence and suppress their activities.

In the past year, after the installation of Ahmadinejad’s cabinet, the pressures and restrictions against Bahá'ís has doubled.

The bulletin of their identification and attack on their homes and businesses has now been broadcast to all sphere of influence.
