2006 Tuesday 24 OctoberTwo other student activists arrestedIran Press News: According to human rights activists in Iran, two other student activists who are among the now increasing number of those being prohibited from continuing higher education by the agents of the ministry of intelligence and security, have been arrested and transferred to an unknown location. According to received reports, Mr. Hamid Kargar and Ms. Bahareh Dareh-Shouri who were traveling from Tehran to Shiraz last Wednesday were arrested upon arrival to their destination by agents of the ministry of intelligence and security. Their families have not as of yet been able to obtain news and information about the two expelled students and as usual judicial and intelligence authorities of the province of Fars claim to have no knowledge of either the reason for the arrests or the location of their detention. It is worth mentioning that Hamid Kargar’s father was one of the political activists who was kidnapped and disappeared during the reign of terror and assassinations on Iranian intellectuals, journalists, activists and regime-opponents during Khatami’s tenure that came to be known as the Chain Murders; no one ever found out about what became of him. |
