2006 Sunday 22 OctoberEditor of a weekly publication arrested for insulting Fuehrer Mullah KhameneiIran Press News: The weekly publication entitled Safeer’eh Dashtestan was banned by the public prosecutor of the city of Boushehr and the offices were ordered closed. According to the regime-run news agency ILNA, an article that appeared in last week’s issue was the cause for the seizure of said journal; charges were “insulting the person of the supreme leadership”. After publishing this article, Pourmand, the managing director, Hossein Roubeen, the editor-in-chief and the typist of the article were arrested by guards from the Boushehr attorney general’s office; after interrogation, the managing director and typist were released however Hossein Roubeen remains in detention. The journal, in one of its satirical articles about the Fuehrer Mullah Khamenei mistakenly published another name which met with the wrath of the Friday prayer leader of Boushehr who preaching against the journal, gathered a mob to force the judiciary to take action. |
