2006 Saturday 14 OctoberIslamic regime deceives political prisoners, falsifying reports of their parents deathIran Press News: The parents of Saeed-Kheirollah Derakhshandi, one of the student activists and former member of Yazd university students association who was arrested 53 days ago, have expressed great concern for their son’s physical and mental condition. Derakhshandi’s parents were finally permitted to visit their son on Monday, October 9th in Evin prison; they explained that he is under great psychological pressure and that the regime’s interrogators, had lied to him by saying that his mother had in fact died. This activist, in his meeting with his family had complained of the absence of a defense attorney, a lack of precise information about the charges being leveled against him; he had also spoken of continued interrogations where he was blindfolded. He had said that the prison guards always keep the lights in his solitary confinement cell on and that other than not having a window in his cell, he is totally deprived of open air. This University of Yazd student activist also has a Masters degree from the Mofeed University in Ghom. He was arrested in late August and was transferred to Tehran’s Evin prison, ward 209. |
