In an act of cruelty, Turkey returns escaped Iranian political prisoners to the Islamic regime

Iran Press News: Turkish police rounded up a group of Iranian refugees on Monday, October 9th and bussed them from the Istanbul security prison named Yabancilar Misafirhanesi right back into the claws of the Islamic Republic border patrol.

Firooz Davoodi, former political prisoner who had escaped to Turkey, was arrested 8 months ago by Turkey’s security police at the Islamic regime’s request. Also a family whose asylum request, via the U.N., had been granted by Canada, were among the group that the Turks delivered back to the Islamic republic.

Firooz Davoodi, a leftist activist and a political prisoner from the early 1980’s escaped to Turkey with his family in 2001 but his request for asylum had been rejected and their case had been closed.

The international affairs center of Iran's political prisoners in exile and UNHCR asylum in Ankara did everything they could but they were unable to stop the expulsion. In the last 8 months, Turkish police absolutely refused to allow U.N. representatives to meet Davoodi; returning Davoodi to Iran at the request of the Islamic regime is in total definace of international rules and regulations.
