2006 Monday 09 OctoberGhom prayer leader: “Astronomical expensiveness and utter poverty run rampant in Iran”Iran Press News: According to the regime-run news agency, MEHR, the Ghom Friday prayer leader, Ayatollah Ebrahim Amini in his Friday, October 6th sermon pointed to the recent expensiveness and exorbitent prices and said: “The regime must resolve the dilmma of high prices.” He stressed that at present the price of goods has skyrocketed in comparison to the past and continued: “Every time I find myself in a discussion about high prices, people's thought turns to increasing prices of things such as chicken and vegetable oil which are thing that really should not even become expensive and yet they are and that is only the smallest of issues; currently high prices of essential goods such as iron, construction materials, etc. are breaking people’s backs.” Ayatollah Amini in his speech called on the regime’s economic authorities to resolve this problem in their meetings adding that it would be entirely inappropriate to expect expersts outside the country to address the situation. |
