2006 Friday 06 OctoberPolitical prisoner, Rasoul Hardani transferred to an unknown locationIran Press News: According to received reports from ward 350 of the infamous Evin prison, Rasoul Hardani, political and security prisoner who is now in the seventh year of his captivity has been transferred to an unknown location. He is seriously ill and based on medical reports he must be under constant medical care. Rasoul Hardani who suffers from mental disability, was 16 years old at the time of his arrest and was sentenced to 22 years in prison. Rasoul Hardani’s transfer was ordered by an individual named Bozorgnia, who is said to be the head of ward 350 - also known as “Andarzgaah” - which is said to be the most harrowing ward in Evin prison. Bozorgnia is apparently the individual who repeatedly threatened to kill, student activist Akbar Mohammadi who died from injuries sustained under torture on July 30th. Rasoul is one of 11 members of an extended family who attempted to commandeer a scheduled flight between the southern Iranian cities of Ahvaz and Bandar Abbas, and force it to fly to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. Security guards already on board ended the attempted hijacking while the plane was still on the runway in the Ahvaz airport. The family was apparently trying to escape the poverty and hopelessness they were experiencing as members of Iran's Arab minority. According to reports, the lives of all political prisoners in ward 350 is in danger. Prison officials continue to threaten to exile them to hellish prisons such as Rajaiishahr prison in the Tehran suburb of Karaj. Some prisoners have also had their lives threatened by the prison officials. |
