2006 Wednesday 04 OctoberAhmad Batebi’s physician arrestedIran Press News: According to esteemed activist and blogger, Kianoosh Sanjari, Dr. Hessom Firoozi, the physician who treated student leader Ahmad Batebi during his medical furlough, was arrested on Tuesday, October 3rd in his house in Tehran. Dr. Hessom Firoozi’s wife confirmed the news and said: “Noon today several plain-clothes secret police agents of the ministry of intelligence and security came to our home and after a thorough search of the house, they confiscated all of my husband’s personal belongings; they arrested him and took him away.” Firoozi is reportedly being held in the infamous detention center 209 of the ministry of intelligence and security. After the July 29th re-arrest of Ahmad Batebi, Dr. Firoozi, in an open letter that was widely published in the media, expressed great concern for Batebi’s health, listing all of Batebi’s physical ailments for which Dr. Firoozi was treating the student leader. It is worth mentioning Dr. Firoozi was also Akbar Ganji’s attending physician. |
