2006 Monday 02 OctoberCalls to save the life of a teenage Iranian girlIran Press News: Based on received reports, the mullah judge overseeing the case of 19-year-old-girl, Delara Darabi has claimed that due to Amnesty International’s intervention he now considers the case to have been politicized and as such, he has seen fit to confirm the young woman’s order of execution. Delara Darabi, was charged with murder when she was 17, denies committing the crime. Based on reports from the regime-run news agency Aftob, Delara Darabi and a 19-year-old man, Amir Hossein broke into a house to commit robbery and during the course of the robbery, Amir Hossein allegedly killed the woman who was at the house in question. Delara Darabi who originally confessed to having murdered the woman has now retracted her statement claiming that the young man asked her to take responsibility for the crime in order to protect him from execution. The young man claims that he thought that her age would prohibit the courts from imposing the sentence of execution of Delara. Amir Hossein has reportedly received a prison sentence of 10 years for his involvement in the crime. |
