2006 Saturday 30 SeptemberIran-Turkey gas pipeline explosion may be a result of tamperingIran Press News: Regime-run news agency MEHR, reported: “Seyed Reza Kassaiizadeh, managing director of the National Iranian gas pipeline said that the explosion of the Iran-Turkey gas pipeline would not have resulted from natural causes but it is entirely likely that it would have been tampered with.” The pipeline explosion occurred on Thursday night, September 28th at 22:25. Kassaiizadeh added: “Either naturally or tampered with, the xplosion in Iran’s export pipeline to Turkey, which has caused a disruption in the flow of gas, is being investigated but initial signs definitely point to sabotage.” He stressed: “This is the first time an explosion has occurred within the Iranian borders; prviously the explosions took place inside Turkish borders, and we had nothing to do with it. About 25 to 26 kilometers of this pipeline is now damaged and it is estimated that approximately 60 to 70 kilometers needs to be replaced now.” |
