2006 Monday 03 JulyIran has until July 12th to accept the offer Six, according to diplomatsVIENNA ( AP) - The Westerners will boost(relaunch) their efforts to obtain penalties against Iran to the UN Security Council if Teheran does not suspend its program of enrichment of uranium before July 12th, announced on Monday the diplomats close to the file on behalf of(under the cover of) the anonymity. During a crucial meeting in Brussels on Wednesday, the leader of the European diplomacy Javier Solana should press the Iranian negotiator Ali Larijani to accept the suspension of the enrichment and the opening of negotiations on a set of incentive measures presented by Six. Five permanent members of the Security Council of United Nations - France, Great Britain, the United States, Russia and China more Germany, proposed an offer of civil, economic and political nuclear cooperation in Teheran in exchange for a frost(gel) of its program of enrichment. Diplomats close to the file clarified that Russia and China were more close than ever to the western position favorable to an action of the Security Council, being able to go to penalties, in case of refusal(discharge) of the offer by Teheran. During his visit in Brussels on Wednesday, Mr Larijani should probably ask for precision from the point of view of Six, even to advance(move) a counterproposal. If that was the case, Mr Solana will mean him(her) that Iran has to accept the terms of the offer by the meeting of Foreign Secretaries Six foreseen on July 12th in Paris, clarified the diplomats. " If Iran did not answer positively by that time, the Ministers will make credibly the decision to resume the negotiations on a resolution to the Security Council ", declared one of them. Six ask in Iran to give " a fast and constructive answer " to its offer, subjected on June 6th in Teheran, but the Islamic regime apparently wants to take its time. The Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that its country would give its answer in mid-August. |
